Only certified mānuka honey carries a Unique Mānuka Factor (UMF®) rating. Developed by the UMF® Honey Association, the UMF® rating assures that the product has been batch-tested for quality, purity and authenticity. The higher the UMF® rating, the higher the concentration of key markers unique to mānuka honey.

Every batch of our honey is independently analysed by a UMF® Honey Association approved laboratory, find out more here.

A key marker of genuine mānuka honey is Methylglyoxal (MG), an element found in the pollen of mānuka flowers. For a mānuka honey product to be UMF® certified MG must be present in testing. MG levels in honey correlates with the UMF rating, and indicates the concentration of anti-bacterial activity in the honey.

Some customers are more used to one or other grading system, that’s why Taku includes both.
